District 4 (Ottawa, Kingston and Area) Board Election Results

Elections in District 4 (Ottawa, Kingston, and surrounding areas) have now concluded. Congratulations to Christine Funk who has been elected to the Board and will begin her three-year term later this month.

Consultation on Proposed Emergency Class of Registration

On April 14, 2022, the Ontario Government passed the Pandemic and Emergency Preparedness Act, 2022 that amended the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), by adding the emergency classes of registration.

The amendment requires all health regulatory Colleges to establish an Emergency Class of Registration by August 31, 2023.

Board Elections Update - District 2 and 4

The College is pleased to announce the acclamation of Stacey Anderson to the College Board of Directors - District 2. Stacey will assume her position at the meeting to elect the Executive of the Board, following the March 30, 2023 Board meeting.

Voting in the District 4 elections begins February 15, 2023.

New Standards of Practice Receive Board Approval

The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is pleased to announce the new Standards of Practice were approved by the Board of Directors at the January 26, 2023 meeting.

The new Standards will come into effect on June 1, 2023.

Enterprise System

The College is pleased to announce that that this spring we will upgrade to the use of an enterprise system.

What does this mean for our registrants? The College is taking a staged approach to the implementation, starting this spring with registration renewal, followed by other program functions at the College.

Public confidence is critical to the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario’s mission to protect the public. Building understanding and awareness of our role is an ongoing priority for the College.

In support of this work, the College is excited to share a revised logo, which features our acronym (COTO) and a new tagline — “regulator of occupational therapists” — that clearly states what we do.

College Registrar and CEO Elinor Larney will be hosting a live webinar on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 12:15pm - 1:00pm to discuss the role of the Board and answer any questions about nominations and elections.
