The College supports the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Health’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, which includes vaccination. Throughout the pandemic, the College has made information regarding COVID-19 vaccines available through communications to registrants and stakeholders and posted information on our website. The College will not be mandating vaccination as a condition of registration. Coming Soon: Pilot of New QA Screening Tool

The College’s Quality Assurance (QA) Programcontinues to evolve as we strive to enhance the program. One important part of the QA Program is Competency Assessment, where registrants get meaningful feedback and tools to help them make any needed practice improvements. The College’s new Competency Assessment process has 3 steps: Step 1: Risk Based Selection. This was launched during the 2020-2021 registration year. Step 2: Screening of Selected Registrants. COVID-19 Update: Directive #6 in effect September 7, 2021

On August 17, 2021, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued anew directive(Directive #6)requiring hospitals, home and community care service providers, and ambulance services to have a vaccination policy, with an implementation date of September 7, 2021. Employers in these settings will be required to develop, implement, monitor, and maintain vaccination policies to ensure all employees, contractors, students, and volunteers are vaccinated or tested regularly. Now Available: 2021 QA Requirements

The 2021 Quality Assurance (QA) requirements are now available in MyQA. Occupational therapists canlog in to begin their Professional Development (PD) Plan, Self-Assessment (SA) and Prescribed Regulatory Education Program (PREP). This year's PREP is on Ethics and Professionalism. A reminder that the 2021 PREP is due October 31, 2021, as is the SA (for those occupational therapists required to complete one this year). Occupational therapists can access the 2021 PD Plan now and make goals for this registration year. The completed 2021 PD Plan will be due May 31, 2022. Updated Directive #3 in Effect July 16, 2021

On July 14, 2021, the Chief medical of Health issued an updated version of Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007. The updated Directive #3 goes into effect July 16, 2021.
