Ontario Health has updated two quality standards: Dementia: Care for People Living in the Community (originally published in 2018) and Behavioural Symptoms of Dementia: Care for People in Hospitals and Long-Term Care Homes (originally published in 2016). The updates align with the most up-to-date clinical evidence and current practice in Ontario.
What’s New
Some of the key updates to the two quality standards on dementia include:
- Updated links, secondary references, and data sources where applicable
- Revised accompanying resources (i.e., patient guide, placemat, case for improvement slide deck, technical specifications) to reflect changes to the quality standard
- Updated terminology: for example, health care provider changed to clinician or health care team, caregiver changed to care partner, and people or person living with dementia changed to people or person with dementia
- Statement-specific changes to align definitions and rationales to current practice
