October 25, 2018 Council Highlights

College Council met on October 25, 2018. Key decisions and outcomes are listed below.

Standards for Supervision of Students

The revised Standards for Supervision of Students were approved and will be released later this year. Until the release, the 2011 Standards for Supervision of Students remain in effect.

Standards for Infection Prevention and Control

Council approved the draft Standards for Infection Prevention and Control for public and stakeholder consultation, which will begin later this year. The current Standards for Infection Control remain in effect and are available online under Standards & Resources.

Public Input

In June 2018, the College joined the College of Physiotherapists in sponsoring a conversation on risk-based regulation with the Citizen Advisory Group (CAG) at their June 23 meeting.  The CAG shared their perspectives on the ‘risks most Colleges should focus on’ and we are grateful for their insights. The CAG report was shared with Council and will be revisited at an upcoming Patient Relations Committee. Learn more about public input to College decision-making here.

2018 Annual Report

The College’s 2018 Annual Report was accepted by Council and is now available online and in PDF format in French and English. The report highlights the work of the College to ensure quality occupational therapy services across the province in the interest of public protection.

Legal Update on Interim Orders

Considerations when making the decision to place a suspension on a member’s registration in the interest of public protection were presented to Council. Learn more about interim suspensions and decisions of the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee here.
