Resignation: Not working? Taking a leave?
If you will not be working or using the title occupational therapist (OT) in Ontario after May 31, 2025, you have two options:
- Resign your registration. Resigning your registration means you will not be able to:
- work as an occupational therapist in Ontario
- use the title occupational therapist, abbreviation “OT” or designation “OT Reg. (Ont.)” in Ontario
- Maintain your registration and return to practice in Ontario at any time during the year. You must continue to meet all College requirements, including:
- carrying professional liability insurance
- meeting the practice hours requirement
- completing your annual quality assurance requirements
- renewing your registration annually by the May 31 deadline.
You can learn more about taking a leave or resigning on our page Stopping Practice in Ontario.
Registrants who wish to resign must do so by May 31, 2025.
