October 2021: Co-signing provisional occupational therapists' documentation

QuestionDo provisional occupational therapists need their notes co-signed?

Answer: No, co-signing of documentation is not required. Although provisional occupational therapists must have a supervisor, provisional occupational therapists are accountable for their own practice.

The provisional occupational therapist should discuss documentation requirements with their supervisor, so they understand any policies and procedures. The supervisor may choose to co-sign (or not) some, or all the notes depending on the practice area, and their comfort level with the provisional occupational therapist’s knowledge, skill, and judgement.

For more information on provisional registration, please visit the provisional registration section of the website for additional information and resources on this topic.
