Effective December 9, 2020 Chief Medical Officer of Health has updated Directive #3 for long-term care and retirement homes.
Occupational therapists working in these sectors should review the Directive in its entirety. The additional guidance under Directive 3 includes information about:
- admissions and readmissions
- short stay and temporary absences (applies to LTCH only)
- managing visitors
Occupational therapists are still considered essential workers and can continue to provide services to long-term and retirement homes.
We recommend occupational therapists communicate with their employers and the long-term care and retirement homes where occupational therapy services are provided to ensure there are processes and procedures in place to comply with Directive 3.
