As we move into fall, please note your insurance coverage may be expiring soon. To update your insurance, first renew your insurance with your provider prior to the policy expiration date. Once this is done, you have 30 days to update the insurance policy information with the College.
Here is how to update your insurance information:
- Log in to the College website.
- Select ‘Update Profile’
- Select the ‘Insurance’ tab and follow the instructions.
If your insurance is with CAOT, your Insurance Certificate Number is located near the top right of your CAOT “CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FOR PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY”. It is the 6-digit number located next to the words “Insurance Certificate No.”
If your insurance is with OSOT, your Insurance Certificate Number is located near the top right of your OSOT “Professional Liability Certificate of Insurance”. It is the 5-digit number located next to the word “CERTIFICATE #”.
Please do not enter your policy number as your certificate number otherwise we will be required to follow-up with you to obtain the correct information.

We understand that some occupational therapists may be providing virtual services, especially considering COVID. We have confirmed that the insurance policies obtained through OSOT and CAOT cover virtual practice in Canada. If you are obtaining insurance through another provider, you should review the policy prior to renewal and ensure that your professional liability insurance meets the College requirements as per section 19 of the College bylaws as well as your practice needs.
