Proposed Controlled Act Regulation
The controlled act of psychotherapy was proclaimed in December 2017. According to the
Occupational Therapy Act, 1991, the College must make a regulation outlining the requirements to be met for occupational therapists (OTs) to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy.
The consultation on the proposed regulation ran from April 3, 2018 to June 3, 2018 and 134 responses were received. Council reviewed the feedback and subsequently approved the proposed regulation for submission to the government.

The consultation was required as a matter of legal process though the changes were already in effect due to amendments to the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991. The consultation was conducted between March and May 2018. Council approved the proposed amendments at the June meeting.
