The College is currently recruiting up to 1 occupational therapist from the from the Ottawa/Kingston or Windsor/London area to become a Professional Committee Appointee and join our Practice Subcommittee.

About the Practice Subcommittee

The Practice Subcommittee explores and provides recommendations on current occupational therapy practice issues.

  • Key roles involve helping to update, revise, and develop practice documents for occupational therapists.
  • Additionally, there are other opportunities to provide feedback on practice program initiatives.

Skills and Experience

The Practice Subcommittee is seeking applications from individuals with a broad range of skills, perspectives and expertise as outlined in the College’s Committee Competency Framework, and is particularly interested in individuals who possess specific skills and experiences as outlined below:

Practice Settings

An occupational therapist from the Ottawa/Kingston or Windsor/London area who has worked in one of the following practice settings:

  • Psychotherapy (working with adults)
  • Private practice (working with all ages)

Standards and Scope of Practice

  • Understand the standards, competencies, and scope of practice that guide occupational therapy practice in Ontario and be able to determine where a breach or potential breach might occur.

Systems Perspective

  • Knowledge of the health care system, as well as practice and industry specific understanding. For example, models of care, scope of occupational therapy practice in practice settings, practice overlap, including diverse experience with, for example, other health professions, health care employers and various practice roles.

Writing/Editing

  • Experience in professional and academic writing and editing.

Commitments and Compensation

Professional Committee Appointees are compensated and have their expenses reimbursed as per the College’s Honoraria policy.

  • All appointments are for a three-year period
  • Number of meetings per year: 4–5
  • Preparation time per meeting: 2–4 hours
